Its now time to stand up for what we believe in

Friends, strangers, activists, readers. I think its time to take a stand. I'm finding that I've been scared to share my real opinions on issues of actual importance. On things such as abortion, homosexual rights, capital punishment, the health care bill.

First of all, let me just tell you that I am a covanent, reformed, orthodox, presbyterian, Christian. And I would like to ask that all comments on this post be made in a rational, non-insulting way. Logical arguments and debates will be excepted, name calling and degrading comments that have nothing to do with the subject will not.

Abortion.
In my opinion abortion is wrong. I believe that it is murder. I do not believe that it is a womans right to abort a baby because it is her body. Because our bodies are not our own!

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Homosexuality.

The Bible pretty much lays out what I believe. Of course there is hope! We are all sinners, whether we like it or not. Do you think I haven't been greedy? Or I haven't slandered? Think again. But I have been forgiven, and I'm in the proccess of being sanctified.
We shouldn't pass judgment on gay friend, every friend we have is a sinner, does that mean we don't hang out with them, or we hate them? Of course not! We love them and we try to encourage them toward Christ!

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Capital Punishment.

The bad thing about capital punishment is that people who are inoccent (non of us are inoccent by the way, but there a certain crimes that are deserving of death on earth) are somethimes killed.
Leviticus 24:17-22: "And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

The health care bill.

We shouldn't HAVE to have healthcare. I mean, would you want to governemnt to feed you only vegatables? Also, it shouldn't be the governments job to provide this for us!

Alright! *claps hands* lets get some good conversations going! L<3VED

P.S. for all those who are all "But a loving God would never do this or that," Just remember that God created the wicked for their own desruction. I love the book of proverbs.

  2. THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH!

The Kingdom of God! Sounds kind of heavenly, doesn’t it. But is it? Or is it right here on earth now in the midst of us all? Let’s see what the Holy Bible has to say about it.

In Matthew 12:28, Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God has come upon them. In Mark 12:34, He also tells the scribe that he is not far from the Kingdom of God.

In Matthew 16:19, Jesus gives Peter the keys to the Kingdom, and then establishes His Church on Peter the Rock. Jesus says that whatever this Church binds on earth shall be bound in heaven, where Jesus reigns now.

So what does all of this tell us? It tells us that the Kingdom of God was established on earth by Jesus Christ in the year 33 AD, in the form of His Church, led by Peter.

The Bible says in Luke 17:20-21 that the establishment of the Kingdom will not be accompanied by signs, which would presumably preclude angelic trumpet blasts and dead people coming back to life.

Instead, Jesus says that the Kingdom of God is in the midst of us, now. And Jesus said in Matthew 28:18 that all authority in heaven and on earth has already been given to Him.

Isn’t it an insult for us to say that that statement isn’t a reference to His Kingdom having already being established? And where is the Kingdom of God on earth? It would be in the Tabernacle at each and every Catholic Church, where Jesus Christ is truly present, body, blood, soul, and divinity, in the Eucharist!

He’s waiting for you to come see Him and talk to Him, right now! And the really good news is that everyone who is in the state of grace is a prince or princess of this Kingdom, right now!

  3. I agree with your point on abortion, but definitely not with your point on homosexuality. I'm a Catholic, and I don't think it's wrong. I don't think a homosexual can choose whether or not he or she WANTS to be a homosexual, and I definitely don't think it's a sin. Why would God create homosexuals, specifically as they are, knowing that being themselves would 'be a sin?'

  4. @ Kiki,
I was just talking to my sister about this last night. We are all born with sin. We usually have different faults though. What about if I was born lusting after animals, and started having sexual relations? Would that be alright? I don't believe so because of what the bible says:
    Leviticus 18: v 23
"Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it, that is a perversion. " dog
    Leviticus 20: v 15
"If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal."

So we are all born with sin, and even if a man or woman are born wanting the same sex, they should try to die unto it.

Even being my self leads to sin, I think we are suppossed to be more like Christ. Of course we can't do any of this by ourselfs.

  6. I agree with your points. (I like your blog by the way, I've been following for a while) On the subject of homosexuality being something you're "born" with, like a disease, here are some of my thoughts:

Sin is a disease. It is like leprosy. Before salvation through Christ, we are all infected by it, and it is fatal. We are the living dead- imagine the appearance of a leper... faceless, rotting flesh, devoid of feeling. That is us in our sinful nature. We are enslaved by the deeds of our sinful flesh, unable to be free to act apart from it. It is the same with homosexuality as with any other sin (and yes, the Bible does condemn homosexuality as sin- 1 Cor 6:10)

Only the blood of Christ has the power to cleanse us and free us from sin's enslavement. Homosexuals may not be able to change their own inclinations, but God can change hearts- He makes our desires one with His own, enabling us to actually hate our sin, and giving us victory over it. We can be alive in him!

  7. On homosexuality, What if, those people don't know about God and what the bible says.
Maybe someone has not reached out to them. I still think that its their choice to do whatever they want with their body, souls and spirit.
On abortion, i guess it depends on the situation.
But you should really think about those who don't know God and what is written in his book. Maybe its not their fault.
Maybe for some people, its natural.

  8. Hey Buky:)

I think that we should try and share what we believe with others. If people don't know about God and His word, we need to tell them about it. I guess because I am a Christian, my world view is different from a lot of people. Using the Bible as the ultimate book of the law my opinion is the above.
If I wasn't using the bible as my bases, I might have a different opinion.

  9. Based on where you are coming from and the education you have and the lifestyle you lead, I can see how and why you came to these conclusions. I only wish to address two: 1) The healthcare bill: Your short blurb and thought on it leaves out a lot of possibilities. Stories like the following: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,451939,00.html where a young boy died of a tooth infection because his Mom couldn't afford treatment without insurance show a grave need for reform. There's a huge difference between having a Government option and the Government forcing you to have healthcare. Besides, isn't the glory of medicinal care hand-in-hand with the work of God? People are placed here to heal the sick and I find it wrong that people question that at all. 2) Homosexuality- what can I say? I respectfully disagree with everything you wrote though I did appreciate that you still said to be kind to Homosexuals. I don't believe that the Bible has a place in this conversation as much of what the Bible says isn't applicable to our present world (if you would like examples, I can give them). To say that Homosexual need to find God is saying that who they are is a disease that needs to be worked out. I know many religious, happy homosexuals who will never, ever, ever be straight because they aren't straight, they are homosexual. That is the perfect being that they were meant to be. I adamantly oppose anyone who makes them feel like they need to fix a component that is ingrained in their very being.

  10. by the way, I absolutely agree with you on capital punishment. My one hesitation with it is that some innocent people are killed which, as you noted, is horrific!

  11. Thanks for you comment:) ugh I just read through some of my post and I see so many typos and spelling mistakes haha.

    1. Do we have a choice not to receive the health care?

Yes, I do think that we should contribute to helping others who are less fortunate then us, but I don't think that its the governments job to make us do it. Is that understandable?

    2. I try to apply the bible to every area of life (though I fail miserably).

I'm not saying that homosexuals need to find God. I believe that many of them are already aware of Him. I also don't believe that being homosexual is a disease.
